I had a chance to take some pics of sights in central Hong Kong before dinner.
Gold was pretty quiet for dinner, but I thought the food and drinks were nicely done. The nitrogen dessert was a bit of a let down, but the venue is still a nice place.
The seafood pizza and calamari appetizer hit the spot for a nice lunch. The crust is thin and crispy and the toppings are tasty.
The W Hotel has some off beat decorations. I thought the chia heads were quite amusing.
The name is a bit of a mouthful, but the food is great. We had a little mix up on the order but we got things sorted. The sunrise drink is great and the chocolate and raspberry combo is great … Continue reading
We have not been to Mr and Mrs Bund for a while. I decided to try the late night special set menu. The pork chop was quite excellent. The overall environment is nice except that it was a bit too … Continue reading
I had lunch at Night Market, Elements Mall. The food was pretty good and service is not bad. The dumplings and chicken were tasty.
Jade Garden is a safe bet for good selection and quality. We tried some of the specials which seemed to center around winter melon.
We had a vendor meeting over dinner at a Japanese restaurant across from Ye Li Xia muslim restaurant. The food was nice and the service was great. I got an interesting bottle of wine to take home also.
We went to People Square to try the original outlet of the famous dumpling outlet. The small shop is basic, but the dumplings are good. The neutral rating from the health department is not encouraging, but I think it is … Continue reading
I wanted to cash in my Haagen Dazs moon cake certificate. So, I went to Thumb Plaza and got lunch at Lapis Thai. The food is a bit more expensive, but I think the quality and environment is quite good.
On the spur of the moment, we went to Pure & Whole for lunch. They modified the menu recently and the additions are pretty good.
I am back in Shanghai for the full week before swinging into Hong Kong. With many back to back meetings, I kill two birds by having a lunch meeting at Yuxiang Kitchen. The rice and vegetable soup is nice, but … Continue reading
We got a 2 for 1 special to have dinner at Shang-High Cuisine. The crispy chicken had a nice little spice kick.
The hotels change the gardens and displays on a regular basis. They are pretty interesting in a similar manner to the Christmas displays in New York.
I flew back into Shanghai and jumped in for a good workout before hitting the sack for a few hours. After getting in a car accident on the way to work, I had a long day of back to back … Continue reading
They opened a new Aniseed at Kerry. It is probably related to the old Aniseed but it seems to have a different menu and maybe a little more upscale. The pepper beef and squid were decent
After checking out in the morning, I decided to burn up the casino credit and have breakfast at Grand Luxe, Venetian. The dealers recommended this place. I think it was pretty decent for a breakfast. I got a salad with … Continue reading
While we waited for Andrew, Eliza and I tooled around College Ave. She needed some refreshments to cool down.
We had to save a spot for Wicked Spoon. The brunch buffet setup is among the better ones in Vegas. The selection is good and the food quality is good.
Although we have been to Del Frisco’s in NY a number of times, our group decided that we had to give the one in Vegas a shot. They did a good job with the steaks, but the chicken was a … Continue reading
Although we did not stay at our usual hotel, Aria, we decided to get dinner at Sage. We had a good time there in the past and we wanted to get out a bit. We were not disappointed. The staff … Continue reading
I had to pop into midtown to give a speech to our new hires before closing out my stint in NY. I happen to overlap with colleagues from London and we decided to go back to my favorite spot in … Continue reading
I met my college classmate for a coffee before my trip back to Shanghai. We decided Paris Baguette would be a good meeting spot. They have a number of outlets in Asia. The choices have an Asian influence. The selection … Continue reading
We just chilled out this weekend and watched baseball. Andrew showed me a new piece he is working on.
Since we got rooms at the Venetian, we hopped downstairs to try Yardbird. The appetizer and entrees were along similar line of comfort food as Hash a Go Go, but the portions were smaller. The food was good though. The … Continue reading
We went downtown to Katsuya for dinner. The LA location was highly recommended. So, we figure the Vegas one shouldn’t be bad. The service was great, food was good, and decor was interesting.
Our first stop in Vegas was for lunch at Hash House. This place got rated highly by a few sources. We gave it a shot and the huge portions could have fed an army. I ended up leaving a good … Continue reading
I had some new coworkers wanting to give Thalia a go. I wanted to try something new, but I could not pass up the burger. Fries are nice and crispy too.
Vynl seemed to be an interesting option to explore. We got in early and got a good sampling of the menu. Billionare’s bacon seemed interesting, but I decide it might be a bit too much comfort. Fried chicken was nice. … Continue reading
I had a chance to catch up with my old instructor for dinner. Good conversation. The kale salad and swordfish were excellent.
We were in a bit of a rush today. My lunch partner suggested giving Azuri Café a try for lunch. It is not a fancy place and the owner is a bit rough. He is a reminiscent of the Soup … Continue reading
We tried out the lunch set for restaurant week. The food was decent, but I think the setting in Grand Central is the most interesting aspect.
We got a coupon to try out Bonefish Grill. I think the calamari and mussels were pretty decent. Service was not the best.
I met up Ted and Jay to catch up on how they are doing since our last meeting. It is good to keep in touch with college friends and see that they are doing well.
