China residents seem to have a general problem with forming a proper queue. Whether its to get on a train or to get on a plane, the operating mode is a free for all. I can understand why the older … Continue reading

Eliza is having fun, but I think she just barely fits in that car. The scene reminds me of a cartoon.
Andrew got his green belt. Unfortunately, I could not be there for the test, but I plan on being there for him when he gets his black belt.
Kebabs on the Grille for dinner. The chicken with tomato sauce is nice with spices and doesn’t sit too heavy. I should have ordered the plain rice to go with it. The rice is a bit too much. The drumsticks … Continue reading
Went to T for Thai for lunch. The location is right across from the Shanghai library. Its also close to Kota’s Kitchen. The decor is nice and the food is tasty. Service is good too. I had the papaya salad, … Continue reading

Had a nice lunch at Vale. The abalone with wasabi was nice.
There was a light rain today in Shanghai. As I approached the door to my apartment building, there was someone about 30 feet away heading towards the door. I opened the door and glanced back. The person did not appear … Continue reading
We had a going away lunch for my colleague. Shook! lunch special is always a safe bet. Salmon appetizer was very nice. I had the chicken and skipped the dessert today.
We had a quick dinner at Haiku after work. The rolls are quite nice and the environment is chill.
Had a burger at the Brew for lunch today. This place is a runner up in the burger contest for Shanghai
My colleague racked up so many points at Element Fresh that she got some free dinner set menus. We went down to take advantage of the offer which included a wines paired with each course. I thought the over all … Continue reading
We had lunch at California Pizza today. I am not sure what happen, but the kitchen staff put a whole bunch of toppings on the Milan pizza. I am trying to understand if they got a large batch of fresh … Continue reading
They have a couple of Candy Labs in Shanghai. The colors and packaging are interesting, but I am not sure if I want to blow my sugar quota on this candy.
I grabbed lunch at Pintxos. The paella was pretty decent. I liked the endive with blue cheese. This place is certainly way better than Las Tapas.
Mixed in with all the shops for Tianzifang, there a number of local residents. You can see how some people live in Shanghai
They had a couple of girls promoting some beer with a World Cup theme. I didn’t see many people buying beer. Maybe they will remember to get some beer later.
This place is the brainchild of someone from Taiwan. The idea seems to stem from a cartoon. This has to be one of those things I just don’t get. I can’t see who gets an appetite from this place.
Interesting bit of packaging for colored sugar water. It wasn’t really that hot today. I did not see if people would really go for this packaging.
After Singapore, I think I can take a break from durian. But this place seems like a good one for a durian fix
Over at Tianzifang, there is a place called NY Style Steak and Burger. Supposedly the best burger in Shanghai. I may have to give a shot one day. But I passed today since I am going back to US next … Continue reading
Went down to Tianzifang to hang out today. Lucky that it was not too crowded for a weekend. This place has some interesting and unique items. I find this place more interesting than Yu Yuan gardens.
The Singapore tradition of reserving seats at the food courts is pretty unique in my experience. I visit Singapore so many times that I take it for granted. I was reminded of this custom the other night as we hunted … Continue reading
Don’t think they stop all the rain as per my observation the other night.
I am in a car going to the airport. The car seems to emit a warning, ‘Drive Carefully’ if the car is speeding or driving in a crazy manner. The driver seems to enjoy the constant sound of that warning … Continue reading
We had a nice lunch at Oca Grassa today. The grass fed steaks from Australia are a bit leaner than the typical steaks in the US. My colleague went for the lamb. Since the steak kept on cooking on the … Continue reading
After the visit to East Coast, we visited an area dedicated to durian. I never realized there are few variations of durian. Although I did not eat any durian, my colleagues all had a good time. I was still recovering … Continue reading

Thanks to Mr Rivas for inviting me to work out while I am in Singapore. I worked up a good sweat. The school is done nicely. The only issue I had was punching something quite hard with my bare knuckles. … Continue reading
Black Swan has a nice lunch special. The serving portion is nice and the food is prepared just right. I had a very nice piece of pork.
I am trying to figure out if glutton has a negative connotation. I don’t think this is a good name for the place.
We dropped by this place after our dinner at Melben. God knows how anyone can find this place. Its tucked away around the backside of the building in the middle of a construction zone. If we didn’t know to look … Continue reading
The Shanghai visiting staff joined me for a dinner at Melben today. Their first experience with Chili Crab was a good one. The night was cooler with a nice breeze. We enjoyed having a nice meal in the open air.
The team went out for dim sum today. The spread was great. The service was a bit spotty. Seems that staff don’t handle a busy lunch crowd that well.
I had similar breakfast to yesterday but I got some congee this time
Yu Cuisine over at Marina Sands is a nice place for dim sum and for dinner. The seafood is quite good quality. I like the prawns in wasabi mayo and salted egg yolk.
Went to Catalunya for lunch. There is nice views on the water and Sands Marina. The paella is nice, but the mussels were not so great.
