On the drive from Washington back to New Jersey, my son is shocked that I can drive long distances and stop in a couple of cities without GPS.  I told him that it is only because I am driving before they have such thing as GPS.  I drew the analogy to all the people before calculators, cell phones, and computer cash registers.  They probably do a lot of calculations in their head or memorize phone numbers that seem amazing to people now.  My son still thought my sense of direction is amazing.  I wonder how long it will take for me not to impress him so easily.
